FEBRUARY

Bald Eagle/Winter Waterfowl Field Trip
Saturday, February 9, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Driving Tour
Mt. Shasta Area Audubon and the River Exchange present an all-day trip to the Klamath Basin area led by Chris Stomsness. We'll carpool to strategic viewing locations in the basin to observe bald and golden eagles, hawks, snow geese, owls, tundra swans, and much more. Meet at Hwy 97 & A-12 (10 mi. north of Weed). Bring wam clothes, walking shoes, lunch, water, binoculars, and walkie-talkies (if you have them). $5.00 outing donation. Call the River Exchange to register and for more information.

Enjoy an evening of wine, appetizers, and good friends as we thank you for your support of our stewardship efforts. Sustainable Watershed Series
"Klamath Watershed Report/Presentation"

Join Phil Detrich, Klamath Issues Coordinator with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, for an evening discussion and status report on the current efforts to restore the Klamath River. Mr. Detrich is the lead USFWS negotiator for the restoration agreement currently under consideration, and will address issues including the proposed dam removals, water allocations, fishery management plans, and current restoration efforts on the Klamath River. Anyone wanting to know "what's up" on the Klamath is encouraged to attend this presentation. Free.


APRIL

Native Plant Greenhouse Field Trip
Saturday, April 19, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Mt. Shasta Ranger Station, Alma Street, Mt. Shasta

Learn native plant propagation and transplanting techniques during this restoration field trip in partnership with the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The day will include a greenhouse tour, information on local native plant species, ecosystem restoration techniques, and hands-on transplanting of local native plants and trees. A portion of the day will include preparing native plants for a restoration outing scheduled later in June. This field trip is free! Children over 12 are welcome. Bring a sack lunch. River Celebration!

Main Lodge, Mt. Shasta City Park

Don't miss our annual fundraising extravaganza. This year's Celebration! marks our twelfth year providing watershed stewardship and educational programming. Join us and other friends and community members for great food, music, delicious desserts and amazing auction items. Watch for upcoming information and reserve your tickets early for this always-sold-out event.

River Restoration Outing
Saturday, June 21, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Upper Sacramento or McCloud Watershed
Come spend the day with friends enjoying one of our magnificent waterways while helping your local environment. Each year the River Exchange, in cooperation with local conservation partners, coordinates several community outings to active restoration sites in the area. The outings are designed to restore degraded ecosystems and enhance wildlife habitats. Each outing includes background information on the project site, restoration techniques and instructions, and hands-on enhancement activities. This outing is free! Children over 12 are welcome.
