RIVER EXCHANGE EMPLOYMENT Project Director Position Is Open! The River Exchange (REX) is accepting resumes for our Project Director position. We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) watershed stewardship organization located in Dunsmuir, California. This is a grant funded, term-limited position that will run from the time of hire through September 30, 2013; the position is part time, currently funded at 80% time. Full time employment and extension of the position beyond the current term are dependent on securing additional funding. Salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience. Job Description The Project Director’s primary responsibility will be to work with the Executive Director to manage the development of an Integrated Regional Water Management (IRWM) Plan for the Upper Sac Region (including the Upper Sacramento, McCloud, and Lower Pit watersheds) under the terms of the REX’s grant with the California Department of Water Resources (DWR). In October 2011, REX signed a 2-year grant agreement with DWR to develop the IRWM Plan for which REX is the project lead and fiscal agent. Project Director Responsibilities include: - Background research for and writing of IRWM Plan chapters; - Coordination of and communication with Regional Water Management Group stakeholders; - Outreach and presentations on IRWM process to public and stakeholders including Disadvantaged Communities (DACs); - Management of contracts with IRWM Lead Consultant, Facilitator, and sub-contractors; - Coordination of Regional Water Management Group meetings; - Development of monthly reports and invoices to submit to DWR; - Assisting with REX events. The Project Director is supervised by the Executive Director and does not manage staff. The successful candidate for this position will meet the following minimum qualifications: - BA/BS with 3 years of experience in conservation practice or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Excellent written and oral communication skills; - Exceptional organizational skills; - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and complete tasks on or ahead of schedule; - Experience and comfort presenting to large groups with varying levels of expertise and familiarity with subject material; - Experience with grant administration (particularly State grants); - Experience managing contractors; - Meeting organization experience; some experience with meeting facilitation is also desirable; - Strong science and research background is desirable; - Knowledge and understanding of water issues in northern California is desirable; - Proven ability to work as part of a collaborative team; - Demonstrated commitment to the environment and to the non-profit sector is a must. © The River Exchange.
